Role
Undergraduate Researcher
Timeline
July 2017 - May 2018
Description
Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson to investigate liquid-like solids (microgels) as a tool for supporting Drosophila (fruit fly) embryos for imaging studies.
Developed procedure for mounting Drosophila embryos within microgel matrices.
Captured images (time-lapses and videos) of Drosophila embryos in different concentrations of microgel.
Evaluated how microgel concentration impacted strength, viscosity, and ability to maintain Drosophila viability.
Presented research abstract and poster at Undergraduate Research Symposium and wrote full report of findings.
